Today you are leaving Namche Bazaar and heading up the Thame Valley taking 4 to 5 hours. The Thame Valley is off route for most trekking groups and you are likely to find the paths relatively quiet. The trail from Namche leads west from the Gumba to around a ridge with the helipad in about 15 minutes and goes through the forest, and within 30 minutes, the descending trail from Syangboche ties in from above. Reach a large Stupa at Furte (3,400m), with tea shops, and two lodges, as well as a government-run tree nursery in 15 more minutes, 1 to 1 ½ hours from Namche. Continue to Samsing with two tea shops and then reach Tseso with an ancient-looking stupa and Lawudo Gomba ascend just out of Tesho, the second one with inviting stone steps, but stay left at the junction if you are on the way to Thamo (3,450m), reached in 20 minutes from Tshko, about an hour from Furte. Leaving Thamo, do not descend to the left of the river but climb past the monastery, at the end of the village. And ascend immediately to the Thame (3,800m) after crossing the bridge at Bhotekoshi about 1 ½ hour from Thamo via Samde (3,610m). The village houses are spread out, and you will camp in one of the fields surrounding the house of a Sherpa friend. In the afternoon you can visit the small Gomba situated on a rocky headland above the village.
Stay overnight Sherpa Land.
For the rest and acclimatization we will walk around the Thame Gompa, a picturesque monastery set among the homes of lamas and laypeople. This monastery is located two hundred meters above the Thame Village on the southern slope of the Mountain under a very high rocky cliff with many auspicious shapes and marks mentioned in five different histories. This legendary monastery was built in the fourteenth century. Thame is the birthplace of mountaineer pioneer Tenzing Norgay Sherpa (1st climber of Mt. Everest 8,848m together with Sir Edmund Hillary in 29-May-1953. You may have a great chance to talk with Everest Hero, Mr. Appa Sherpa, and 26the Time Everest Summiter Mr. Kamirita Sherpa about his experience while climbing Mt. Everest twenty-one times. Likewise, you may climb the best viewpoint in the region Sunder peak 5,360m elevation, for amazing, mountains scenery Thame valleys, Tashi Lapsa pass. We are staying overnight at Thame in a peaceful environment.
After the last day of acclimatization, your body recharge for the venture passes to the Renjo La. Today, we are heading north into the remote Nangpa Valley along with the Bhote Koshi River Bank to the Marulung (4,150m), the Tibetan traders coming through the Nangpa La Pass. Until 2005 this valley was off-limits to trekkers because it was the main access route to the pass linking Nepal and Tibet. From the decade, many Tibetan traders have traveled this route, bringing a variety of Chinese goods on the backs of their yaks to sell in Namche Bazaar. The trail upward to the Marulung is about 5 to 6 hours walk from Thame. We are staying overnight at Marulung Village in the lap of Mother Nature
Today is a big day crossing the Renjo La (5,360m) about 7 to 8 hours ascending. You leave your tea house following an early breakfast with some packed lunch, energy bars, and enough drinking water and climb into a wide curie making for the edge line ahead of you. The actual pass is only a small mark. When you come over the past, you are greeted with an unbelievable panorama looking out over the turquoise lakes at Gokyo (4,790m) and across Mt. Everest. You descend over a rough glacial slab and moraine towards your campsite in a secluded location on the western shore of Gokyo. This is the trek of a lifetime and an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful isolated Himalayan scenes. Stay overnight here.
After having spent days of trekking, your body will call for a rest day. And there is no better place to rest than Gokyo Ri. Gokyo Ri is the go-to rest and acclimatization place for a lot of trekkers visiting the Khumbu region. When here, you don’t only rest; you also get to explore the region and go through the beautiful and soothing views of mountains like Cho Oyu (8,153m), Gyangchung Kang (7,922m), Lhotse (8,501m), Makalu (8,463m), Cholatse (6,440 m), Taweche (6,542m), Kantega (6,685m), Thamserku (6,808m), Lobuche (6,145m) and Mt Everest (8,848m). Hundreds of other unnamed peaks fill the scene, whilst below us, the Ngozumba Glacier, the largest in Nepal, stretches through the valley. We have a great memory and stroll back an hour to Gokyo for breakfast then take a rest and relax all day.
You will spend the night, again, at the same tea house here.
After breakfast, you will return to Phorse Village/ Phortse Thanga taking the same path you took to Gokyo. The return trip will be much easier as you will be mostly descending. We will stop at Dole for lunch, and after resting for about an hour, we will descend to Phorse, passing by pine and rhododendron forests. The trek will be rather long and may take around six hours.
This day covers an ascent from 3840 to 4350 meters in around 4 – 5 hours. Begin walking up hill on the right side of Phortse past the helicopter landing pad (grass field) traversing your way up a steep gradient until you reach a slight junction at the top. Take the left trail that contours around the side of steep mountain slopes. If you suffer from vertigo and are fearful of trails with steep drop offs then this way may frighten you. The trail begins to climb and drop around 50-100 meters at every turn with plenty of stairs and switchbacks. There is a particularly steep switchback involving stairs however I can’t recall at what junction it’s located. After 1- 1 1/2 hours you will come to a junction where you can turn right down a hill to Tengboche or continue straight to Pangboche. Continue straight to Pangboche, another 20-30 minute walk. At this point you get amazing views of Ama Dablam, the Lhotse wall, and Mount Everest peaking up to the left of Lhotse. Pangboche is split up into upper & lower Pangboche, a sprawling high mountain town , with various lodges and restaurants as well as a famous Gompa. You enter upper Pangboche passing Everest Lodge & the Gompa on your right. About 50 yards after the Gompa make a right passing Makalu Lodge on your left & you will come to a fork in the trail. Take a left to continue to Shomare & eventually Dingboche or straight to Lower Pangboche. There are two route options to Dingboche. We suggest the upper route going through upper Pangboche, as it passes Shomare & Orsho where you can stop for lunch. The lower route, passing through Lower Pangboche continues to Dingboche (2-3 hours) without passing a town or many facilities. Continue on the upper route passing several mani walls, yak grazing areas, Chorten’s, & a Gompa on the upper slope to your left. At this point the Lhotse Nuptse wall dominates the view. About 1 hour out of town you reach Shomare, which you can see from a distance, but appears to take “forever” to reach due to it being uphill, and if you have not had lunch yet, hunger taking over. We stopped for lunch in Shomare before resuming our trek. After 30 minutes out of Shomare you come to a junction where you continue on the upper trail to Pheriche (if going on to Gorek Shep, Kala Pattar, & Everest Base Camp)
Today’s trek will last for about six hours. Initially, you will head out of Dingboche village towards a ridge with a monastery and continue through a grassland plateau enjoying breathtaking views of Tawoche, Cholatse mountains, and Pheriche village, nestled in the valley below. When we reach Thukla, we will stop briefly to witness a chaotic jumble of rocks. From Thukla, the path ascends through a rugged high-altitude region and passes by a memorial dedicated to fallen climbers. You will continue trekking until you arrive at Lobuche, which once served as a summer yak-grazing post.
On this day, you will reach the Base reach Everest Base Camp summit. The journey begins by trekking through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier until you reach the picturesque Gorak Shep Village, nestled amidst snow-capped mountains. After reaching Gorak Shep, you will leave your belongings at Gorak Shep and head to Everest Base Camp (EBC).
At the EBC, you will be awed by the breathtaking views. You should capture the panoramic view with your camera. Most trekkers get emotionally overwhelmed by their success after reaching EBC. After enjoying the views from the EBC, you will return to Gorak Shep, witnessing the views of the world’s highest glacier – the Khumbu Glacier.
At Gorak Shep, you will rise very early and hike to Kala Patthar, from where you will witness the sunrise over Mt. Everest and other surrounding peaks. The sight is truly awe-inspiring and unmatched by any other. After enjoying the views from Kala Patthar, you will trek back to Gorak Shep for breakfast. You will then rest for a while before continuing your journey to Pheriche, your destination for the day.
Following a restful night’s sleep in Pheriche, you will rise early, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and commence your trek towards Namche Bazaar. The trail winds through vibrant rhododendron and juniper forests, crossing the Imja Khola bridge en route to Tengboche. After passing through Tengboche, you will trek through forests teeming with high-altitude wildlife such as musk deer, mountain goats, and, even snow leopards, finally arriving at Namche Bazaar.
This is the last day trek, after a long walk, all the way down through the Dudh Koshi Valley get in Lukla by 6 to 7 hours walk. After leaving the Mislung at Namche Bazaar, the trail descends through the national Park forest to the confluence of Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi River, to cross the bridge. Then walk along the Dudh Koshi river bank through the Sherpa Village, to the Jorsale, Monjo, Phakding stop for lunch. This trail reminds us again to enjoy the lush green scenery and incredible mountain scenery and local Sherpa villages until Lukla. If you are able to arrive Thursday on Lukla, have a chance to observe weekly markets with various commodities.
