The journey begins in Kathmandu, where you'll embark on a scenic drive to Syabrubesi, the starting point of the trek.

The trail gradually ascends through lush green forests, picturesque villages, and terraced fields, allowing you to immerse yourself in the rustic charm of the region. As you trek further, you'll get treatment with panoramic views of snow-capped mountains, including Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and the mighty Manaslu.

One of the major highlights of the Gosainkunda Lake Trek is the sacred Gosainkunda Lake itself. Positioned at an altitude of 4,380 meters, the shimmering turquoise waters of the lake surrounded by awe-inspiring Himalayan peaks. According to Hindu mythology, it  believed that the lake was created by Lord Shiva himself and is considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists. The annual full moon festival in August draws thousands of pilgrims who take a holy dip in the lake's icy waters.

The trek continues to Tserko Ri (4,984 meters), a vantage point that offers a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding peaks, including the Langtang range. The serene beauty and tranquility of the high-altitude landscapes also make for a truly surreal experience.

Throughout the trek, you'll also have the opportunity to interact with the warm and hospitable local communities, primarily the Tamang and Sherpa ethnic groups. The Gosainkunda Lake Trek is a moderate-level trek that requires a good level of physical fitness. The best time to embark on this adventure is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons when the weather is favorable, and the views are at their best.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel

Once you arrive at Kathmandu Airport, our representative will pick you from the airport and takes you to the hotel. Upon arriving at hotel, check-in and rest of the day is free. In the evening, we will take you to Nepalese Dinner with cultural program followed by Trek Briefing.

Day 02: Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pasupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa and Boudhanath Stupa

This day, our city tour guide takes you for sightseeing of Kathmandu valley to see few monuments. First, we drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square and pay homage to living Goddess, Kumari and walk around the square. Then we drive to Pashupatinath Temple which is a Hindu Temple for Lord Shiva at the bank of Holy Bagmati River. Then we end our day by visiting Boudhanath Stupa which is the biggest Stupa of Asia. In the evening, you can buy or hire equipment at Thamel if you need.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche (1950m)- 6hrs

We start our journey early in the morning and drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi by a private 4 Wheel Drive Jeep which takes about 6 hours drive. You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Dhunche. While passing along the road on the bank of Trishuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you go to Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land. Please note that the first part of your drive up to Trishuli Bazaar is quite smooth. The path then moves along the gravel road. During the rainy season, the way is sometime blocked due to landslides.

Day 04: Trek from Chandanbari and Shing Gompa (3250m, 6hrs)

Today our trek starts along and crossing the Trishuli River which is originated from Gosaikunda Lake. Our first leg starts on flat level with some human settlements and Mineral water factory. The trail continues s a long steady climb to reach Chandan Bari through Pine, Silver Oak and Rhododendron forests.

Day 05: Trek from Lauribinayak (4000m, 4hrs)

We start our trek through southern ridge and get into Cholangpati just behind the ridge. The trail from Thulo Syapru connects here. After having lunch, we continue ascent to Lauribinak through dense forest of Rhododendron. Lauribinayak is located in the hilltop and provides magnificent views of Sunset and Sunrise over Langtang and Ganesh Himal. It is possible to continue to Gosaikunda Lake but considering High Altitude Sickness, we recommend to stay here.

Day 06: Trek to Gosainkunda (4381m, 3hrs)

Our trail steeply ascends all the way to Gosaikunda. We follow a rugged trail with dramatic views; to the west Himal Chuli (7,893m) Manaslu range (8,156m), Ganesh Himal range (7,406m), Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north across the valley is Langtang Lirung. We pass few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, cross a small ridge and have your first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin, the main three being Bhairabkunda, Saraswotikunda, and Gosaikunda respectively. After lunch at Gosaikunda, you can walk around the lake and go to surrounding hills.

Day 07: Trek back to Shing Gompa (3250m, 6hrs)

Being as the holy lake, you can consider taking dips in the lake to pure your body and soul before breakfast. After breakfast, we trek down to Shing Gompa following the same route. In Shing Gompa, you can visit Gompa and cheese factory. Rest of the day, you can simply relax reading books or admiring the nature.

Day 08: Trek back to Dhunche (1950m, 5hrs)

Today is our last walking day of our trekking and the first part of the trails descend through pine, silver oak and rhododendrons forests with marijuana plants up to crossing a suspension bridge over the Sing Gompa Stream. Now the path stretches at flat level through some human settlements and mineral water factories up to Dhunche.

Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu (1400m, 6hrs)

After breakfast at lodge, we start our 4 WD to Kathmandu. In the evening, we will host farewell dinner to mark the success of the trek.
