Itinerary


Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m) and Transfer to Hotel

On arrival at Kathmandu International Airport via respective airlines, you will be received by our office staff and guide with a warm welcome, then transferred to your hotels in the hub of the city. After checking into your rooms and getting refreshed, join the other groups for a briefing on Everest Sherpa Cultural and Scenic Trekking. Our guide offers you useful and important information regarding the trek and your stay in Nepal with us. The evening includes a welcome dinner in a nice and authentic Nepalese restaurant with a folk culture program of Nepal while having your dinner.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla (2830m) and Trek to Phakding (2640m) in 4hrs

Starting early morning transfer to domestic airport for a short and scenic flight to Lukla, taking a smaller aircraft (Twin Otter or Dornier) during 30 minutes on air with an amazing panorama of the Himalayan series of peaks with Mt. Everest as the plane lands on its unique uphill runways reaching Tenzing & Hillary airport in Lukla. From here, a slow start with a few hours of walks on downhill past many Sherpa farm villages with well-tended crops and vegetable fields and terraces with occasional views of snowcapped peaks of Kwangde and Kusum kangaroo, and then reaching our first overnight stop of the trek at Phakding in the comfort of a nice and cozy lodge located by the raging Dudh Kosi River.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) in 6hrs

Today is a long uphill walk to reach the famous Namche Bazaar. The morning starts with a gradual walk following the Dudh Kosi River upstream, crossing a few bridges, to reach the Sagarmatha National Park entrance near Monjo village. Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepalese, while Sherpa calls Chomolungma (of Tibetan origin) in both languages Great Mother. From here, a pleasant walk on the river bed leads to a climb for a few hours into a forested trail with views of snowcapped peaks, as this scenic walk reaches you at the exciting Namche Bazaar.

Day 04: Rest Day at Namche Bazaar and Hike to Everest View Hotel

On the day set aside for rest, we shall take on activities that will help us acclimate faster for our trekking journey ahead. In a town known for its colorful and lively nature, Namche has interesting shops, a buzzing Saturday market, tasty cuisine, and beautiful scenery, as well as warm, welcoming Sherpa people and the unchanged characteristics of this town since ages.

Visit the Sherpa cultural museum for detailed information on mountaineering in the region, flora and fauna, the history and geography of the Himalayas, and the culture and traditions of the local inhabitants. Before the weather creates hurdles, get involved in an early-day hike to one of the nearby destinations. Everest View Hotel, which provides a marvelous view of Mount Everest Lhotse, the beautiful Ama Dablam, and other nearby peaks; the twin villages of Khumjung and Kunde, known for ancient monasteries with old-age heritages; and a school and hospital built by the Edmund Hillary Foundation, are popular day hike destinations from Namche Bazaar. After exploring the surrounding areas, prepare for the trek ahead. Stay overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Khumjung (3653m) via Kunde Village (3880m) in 4hrs

At Namche Bazaar, with a pleasant overnight stop, walk uphill from Namche to reach a hilltop, as the route diverts with a climb to Syangboche, a small settlement with an old airstrip. Facing views of mountains where walking is easier on gradual ups and downs towards Kunde village and visiting Khumbu’s only medical hospital built and run by Hillary and his Foundation.

After an interesting tour of the hospital, a slow descent takes you to an overnight stop at Khumjung, one of the largest villages in the Khumbu area after Namche Bazaar. Kunde and Khumjung villages are located within a scenic glacial valley beneath the peaks of holy Khumbila, the patron god of Khumbu Sherpa. With time, visit another old monastery, the one and only place where you can witness a scalp believed to be of a Yeti, which is kept safe and secure in a glass box for visitors to see with a donation.

Day 06: Trek from Khumjung (3653m) to Debouche (3640m) via Tengboche Monastery (3867m) in 5hrs

From Khumjung, the walk leads on a gradual scenic path with a downhill to the Imjatse River at Phungi Tanga for lunch and an afternoon uphill climb into rhododendron, pine, and fir forest with grand views of snowcapped peaks. After a few hours of climbing, reach Tengboche Monastery, enjoy marvelous views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtega, Thamserku, and Kwangde with the magnificent Ama Dablam, visit its interesting monastery, and observe monks and priests in prayer. With scenic time and visiting its monastery, a slow downhill walk into deep woods of rhododendron and pines to reach a quiet and isolated spot at Debouche and transfer to its nice few lodges for an overnight stop facing views of Everest and Ama Dablam peak.

Day 07: In Debouche – Excursion to Phortse Village (3.796m)

Today we hike to the ecotourism village of Phortse. With about 80 Sherpa households occupying the village, this is one of the highly populated villages at this elevation in Khumbu. The dense forest of juniper, rhododendron, and birch, which lies close to the village, is the habitat of Himalayan tahr, snow leopard, and the colorful Himalayan Monal.

The villagers perform Sherpa cultural show on request. From Phortse, one can enjoy close-up views of snow cloaked Cho Oyu (the sixth highest mountain in the world), Thamserku, Jasemba Peak, and Namgpai Gosum.

After spending some time at Phortse, you retrace your step to Debuche.

Day 08: Trek from Debouche (3640m) to Dingboche (4365m) in 5hrs

Morning downhill walk for a short while to Imjatse River, after crossing a bridge walk into an open country where tree lines stop for a few short juniper and rhododendron bushes, uphill for a while to reach Pangboche village at 3,900 meters. Pangboche is the last permanent village before Dingboche and beyond; from here, a slow climb to Somara for lunch is followed by a continued walk with a climb to Dingboche village for an overnight stop, located within the scenic Imjatse valley with excellent views of Ama Dablam and Island Peak.

Day 09: Rest Day at Dingboche with a hike to Nangkartshang

On another day of rest and acclimatization in this trekking expedition, we shall have an important day before reaching the ultimate destination of this trip. The day will be utilized by short hikes to higher altitudes to adapt ourselves to higher altitudes. A hike to Nangkartshang Gompa provides the trekkers with breathtaking views and the opportunity to get insight into the heritage, such as intricate paintings, Thangka, and Yeti scalps and hands.

Explore the valley formed by the mighty Imja River and the beautiful trail leading to Island Peak. A short hike to the hill behind Dingboche is another option, which provides us with a view of a couple of thousand peaks. After exploring the breathtaking surroundings and capturing memories of the valley, we return for the overnight stay. Stay overnight in Dingboche and prepare for the next day’s trek.

Day 10: Everest Base Camp Flyover with Landing at Kalapatthar and Back to Lukla and then fly to Kathmandu from Lukla

As soon as our Helicopter reaches Dingboche, near the lodge, we board in a spacious, seated chopper, greeted by the pilot and Captain. Where Helicopter lifts high above with a short flight towards the high Khumbu valley for close grand views of Mt. Everest and an array of peaks, then fly to Lukla and then transfer to Tenzing and Hillary airports in Lukla for a scenic morning flight to Kathmandu. Panorama of mountain views all the way to Kathmandu; at Kathmandu domestic airport, our staff transfers you back into your hotel with a free afternoon to relax after a great and wonderful time on Everest Cultural and Scenic Trekking.

Day 11: In Kathmandu, a free day for individual activities.

Today is a free day in Kathmandu reserved as an extra day in case of a flight delay or cancellation in Lukla due to unfavorable bad weather conditions, which can occur sometimes as Himalayan weather can be unpredictable. If all goes well as per our guideline-set itinerary, one can enjoy this day relaxing, with individual extra activities, or book another exciting tour around Kathmandu at places of great interest.

Day 12: Final Departure from Kathmandu and Farewell

Your last day in Nepal, the country of Himalayan wonders, and as per your international flight time, depart for homeward bound or to your next respective connecting destination. Our staff and guide will transfer you to Kathmandu airport after a mesmerizing memory and a great time on Sherpa Village Trek.

  • In case of extra nights’ accommodation, lunch, and dinner in the city due to early arrival and late departure as well as early back/return from mountain/trekking (due to any reason) than the given period of the itinerary. We can help you arrange an extra night’s accommodation.
  • Your expenses such as (laundry, baggage charge, phone calls, battery recharge, bar and beverage bill, boiled or bottled water, hot and cold shower, extra porter.. etc).
  • Taking a private jeep towards Ramechhap will cost extra, but it will be worth it.
