Mr. Lakpa Tamang
Lakpa Tamang is a trekking and mountaineering leader with 25 years of experience as a Climbing Sherpa, Sirdar and guide. He began his career as a porter on expeditions to Mount Everest region when he was just 12 years old.
In 1989 he became a fully certified climbing guide and in that year participated in the French-Italian
Mt Manaslu (8163m) Expedition. Here he spent three full days at an altitude of over 7400m. In 1991, with an Italian Expedition, he summited Mt. Kangru (6981m) for the first time, via the Southeast route.
Since then he has been with many expeditions, assisting in climbing high peaks including Mt. Mustagata (7456m) in the Pamir Range of Western China and Cho Oyu (8201m) in Tibet.
He has guided trekkers in all of the popular trekking destinations of Nepal. He has guided many climbers to the summits of many so-called ‘trekking peaks’, for example Island Peak / Imjatse (6189m).
He has worked in Tibet, Darjeeling, Sikkim, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, and China & Visit in Tibet, Bhutan, India, and Pakistan, all most Europe countries as Denmark, Italy, France, Norway, Belgium etc. and China.
Over the years, he has become an expert on the Nepal Himalayas, the Himalayan middle hills, the whole Kathmandu Valley and also plains of Nepal (known as the ‘Terai’His family and he lives in the Kathmandu Valley, not far from both the famous Boudhanath Stupa and the Kopan Tibetan Buddhist Monastery.
