Itinerary
Arrival at New Delhi International airport, welcome and assistances, then transfer to Hotel. Overnight in a hotel at Delhi.
Breakfast at hotel. Later check out and drive to airport to catch the flight for Lucknow. On arrival Lucknow transfer to hotel for Lunch. Then drive to Sravasti (180 Kms, 4:30 hrs. drive). Arrival Sravasti, transfer to hotel. Dinner and overnight in a hotel at Sravasti.
New Delhi has great historical significance as it was home to powerful people, such as the Pāṇḍavas and the Mughals. The city has many historical monuments and tourist attractions as well as lively marketplaces and great food, such as chaat.
Lucknow has always been known as a multicultural city that flourished as a North Indian cultural and artistic hub, and the seat of power of Nawabs in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The most popular tourist attraction in this ancient city is Miracle Stupa, where Lord Buddha is said to have spent his time after attaining enlightenment. His sermons and teachings made Sravasti an important centre for Buddhist learnings. A stupa was raised at the spot to commemorate Lord Buddha’s teachings.
Breakfast at hotel then visit Jetvanaram and Angulimal Caves. Back to hotel for lunch. After lunch drive to Lumbini (190 kms. 5 – 6 hrs. drive). Lumbini is at Nepal. Arrival Lumbini, transfer to hotel, check-in, Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Breakfast at hotel then visit birth place of Lord Buddha. Lunch will be served at Hotel. After lunch drive to Kushinagar (130 kms. 4 hrs. drive). Arrival Kushinagar, transfer to Mahaparnirvana temple and Ramabhar Stupa (Cremation center). Check-in hotel. Dinner and Overnight at hotel.
Siddhartha Gautama, the Lord Buddha, was born in 623 B.C. in the famous gardens of Lumbini, which soon became a place of pilgrimage. Among the pilgrims was the Indian emperor Ashoka, who erected one of his commemorative pillars there.
The ancient city of Kushinagar is the final resting place of Gautama Buddha and thus is considered to be the most important pilgrim spots for the Buddhist followers.
Breakfast at hotel then drive to Patna (280 kms. 07 hrs. drive) with pack lunch, enroute visit Vaishali. Arrival Patna, check-in hotel, dinner and overnight at hotel.
On the outskirts of Patna and explorable as day tours are the Buddhist, Hindu and Jain pilgrimage centres of Vaishali, Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodh Gaya and Pawapuri. Patna City is also a sacred city for the Sikhs, it is here that the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh was born.
Vaishali is a great Buddhist pilgrimage and also the birthplace of Lord Mahavira. It is said that the Buddha visited this place thrice and spent quite a long time here. The Buddha also delivered his last sermon at Vaishali and announced his Nirvana here. After his death, Vaishali also held the second Buddhist Council.
Breakfast at hotel, then drive to Nalanda (85 kms.), visit ruins of ancient university. Then drive to Rajgir (15 kms). Lunch will be served at good hotel. After lunch visit Gridhkutta Peak, Venuvanaram and Bimbisar Jail. Drive to Bodhgaya. Arrival Bodhgaya (65 kms), transfer to hotel. Dinner and overnight in a hotel at Bodhgaya.
Rajgir was the first capital of the ancient kingdom of Magadha, a state that would eventually evolve into the Mauryan Empire. It finds mention in India’s renowned literary epic, the Mahabharata, through its king Jarasandha.
Nalanda, is famous all over the world for the the ancient International Monastic University established in 5th century BC, which taught Vedas, Logic, Grammar, Medicine, Meta-Physics, Prose Composition and Rhetoric. Nalanda district is popularly known as Biharsharif.
Bodh Gayā is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is famous as it is the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have attained Enlightenment (Pali: bodhi) under what became known as the Bodhi Tree.
Breakfast at the hotel. Later full day sightseeing at Bodhgaya, visiting places like MahaBodhi temple, Sujata Village, Niranjana River. All meals and overnight at hotel.
