Itinerary
Upon your arrival at TIA (Tribhuvan International airport, Kathmandu), Our representative will meet and welcome you to Nepal and then you will be taken to your respective hotel. After the check-in process, you can rest if you are too tired. You will also be provided a welcome dinner hosted by our institution. You will stay overnight in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, we will start a guided tour to some historical attractions in Kathmandu (Durbar Square, the Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath. In the evening we take you for a short tour to Thamel, which is the main tourist hub in Kathmandu. We will make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money exchange, supermarket, gear shops, and other necessary things you might need for your trip. You will stay overnight in Kathmandu.
Today, we will be flying to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu for about an hour. Nepalgunj is the popular city of Nepal located in the western region. This flight will offer you in-flight views of the green forests and Himalayan Range. Nepalgunj is located in the southern region of Nepal. So, it is normally called the Terai area. We check in hotel in Nepalgunj and visit the local market for food hunt and shopping. Overnight stay will be at a local lodge.
We fly to the hilly landscape of Jumla after breakfast early in the morning. You are in a completely different landscape within some minutes. This is what we talk about the varied landscape of Nepal. You land on a very remote land area of the Far-eastern region of Nepal. Trekkers may enjoy the view of Sisne Himal, Dudu Kundari Himal, and many other mountains that are not even named. Overnight stay will be at a local lodge in Jumla
On this day, we will be trekking to another beautiful region of Far-eastern Nepal. The place called Chere Chaur emerged as an important village recently. On the way, you may observe green forests, rivers, waterfalls, and rhododendron. All those natural beauties will make your day. Similarly, you will get the opportunity to explore the culture and traditions of local people residing there. Trekkers may also interview them regarding their lifestyle if they know the Nepali language. Overnight stay will be at a local lodge at Chere Chaur.
On this day, we trek along a steeply ascending path. You need to trek for early 2 hours, the path goes down gently until we reach another village called Chalachaur. The trek is a little rocky and slippery. However, the trek is highly rewarding with all those beauties around. You will be guided by our professional coaches in difficult situations. After a 5-6 hours trek, we will be arriving at our final destination called Chalachaur.
We will stay overnight at Chalachaur.

Today our trail goes uphill to Danfe Lagna Pass for around 3 hours. We spend few times at the top of the hill before descending. Soon after, we get to the hot spring. After walking for few hours, we cross suspension bridges over Hima River and ascend uphill to the village of Bumra passing by Khali village.
Accomodation: Overnight at Tented Camp in Bumra.
Today, trekkers will be heading down the Ghatta Valley. We will follow the path of the Sinja Khola River. Sinja was the capital of the Malla dynasty from the 12th to 14th century. They ruled western Nepal. You may also observe the ruins of the old palace across the river. You will find an interesting temple dedicated to Bhagwati, the Goddess of justice.
Overnight stay will be at Sinja Valley.

From Bumra we follow the trail to Chauta Bazaar, a small bazaar and then we follow the stream uphill to Bulbule where has Army Check Post to enter the Rara National Park. Today trek just a half day trek. After lunch, we rest at the camp as we have to cross Chuchemara Hill tomorrow to get to Rara Lake.
Accomodation: Overnight at Tented Camp in Bulbule.
The path today, will follow the Khatyar Khola river. It is from the bridge at the western end of Rara Lake. We descend through this river and climb up to the small path. The path is surrounded by pine, spruce, and rhododendron forests. In this way, trekkers will move ahead towards Ghatta valley. This will take us to the small settlement of Ghorosingha. Overnight stay will be at this place.

Today is the longest day of the trek and we pass the ridge of Chuchemara Hill. We walk along the ridge, has excellent views of the Kanjirowa Peak, Rara Lake and few peaks in Tibet. The ridge has many meadows. After walking for sometime at the ridge, we descend down to Upper Milichaur. From Milichaur, we walk to the camping area near Rara National Park Headquarter along the bank of Rara Lake.
Accomodation: Overnight at Tented Camp in Rara Lake.
This day, all the interested travelers will cross a stream and make a steep climb. We will reach to Thakuri village of Jhyari. Then, trekkers continue climbing through cedar forests. This will take us to a huge meadow a top ridge with a great view of one of the largest lakes, Rara. On the northern side of the lake, a camping ground is available.
Early morning, witness great Sunrise over Rara Lake which is truly a Jewell. Today we spend visiting Murma Top, Murma Village and walking around the Lake. The reflection of mountain range and surrounding hills in Lake is simply awesome.
Accomodation: Overnight at Tented Camp in Rara Lake
After exploring the beautiful Rara Lake, we head to another village in this region called Pina. Today, we will be leaving our path off to Rara lake and continue a short walk up to our destination. We will have a gradual ascent on this trip and the way goes more right behind the hill. In this way, our journey takes us to Pina where we will stay overnight at a local lodge. A hike to the Pina will provide you a good view of natural beauty such as hills and mountains.
We will take breakfast early in the morning. On this day, trekkers will move ahead towards Burma. Burma is around 102 Km away from Birendranagar, which is the capital of the Mid-western region. Slowly, our trekking journey is getting over as we arrive in the urban region of Nepal. After a few hours of travel, we reach our final destination called Burma. If we arrive early, you may explore the local culture of this region or go for a food hunt. Overnight stay will be in Burma.
Today is the last day of our trek. We keep climbing through forests and meadows. In this way, we head to the ridge at 3510m. We continue a pleasant descent to Jumla. Jumla is a very beautiful place in the mountain region and is also world-famous for culture, tradition, scenic beauty, etc. Jumla will be the finishing point of our trek. After that, we say good-bye to our crew members. However, we will be prepared for our next trip tomorrow.
We say goodbye to the stunning Jumla region after breakfast. After that, we fly towards Nepalgunj. Then, we fly back to Kathmandu which takes about an hour. After reaching Kathmandu, we have the remaining day off to rest or do some reminder shopping. We may also go for a short tour to Kathmandu valley as there are various important sites such as Patan Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, Bhaktapur, etc. We will have a farewell dinner in the evening to celebrate the successful journey. The overnight will be at Kathmandu.
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today. Our representative will guide us to the Tribhuvan International airport about 3 hours before our planned flight. On our way home, we have an abundance of time to map our next adventure in the astonishing country of Nepal.

Trip Information
Route for Jumla Rara lake Trek
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our company’s representative will pick you up and drive you to the hotel.
Optionally, you can do sightseeing in Kathmandu if you want where we visit world heritage sites including Swayambhunath, Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath and Durbar squares. Kathmandu is called the city of temples. You will be seeing rituals and culture from close to which devotion will touch your heart.
If you want to skip the sightseeing around Kathmandu, we will begin our journey by taking an hour’s flight to Nepalgunj. The next day, from Nepalgunj we will take another flight to Jumla of about 20 minutes. Jumla is a gateway to the Karnali region. We will spend the night in Jumla.
The real hike begins from Jumla when we ascend along Jugad Khola and pass Khalanga Bazaar to reach Chere Chaur. After spending the night at Chere Chaur, the next day we will hike for about 5 hours to Chala Chaur via Jaljala pass.
On the 7th day, our target will be Sinja valley which takes 7 hours to reach Chala Chaur.
On the 8th day, from Sinja valley we climb uphill by the Hima River. Climbing the steep trail we reach Laha village after ascending further we reach our destination for the day which is Ghorosingha.
After about 6 hours, of walking across Khatyar Khola camp and the village of Murna, we reach our destination; the stunning Rara Lake. The next day too we enjoy the breathtaking view that the lake and this place offer. Rara lake is the largest lake in Nepal with a surface of 10.8 square kilometres. We will also boat across the lake while admiring the view and aquatic wildlife.
On the 11th day of our trekking journey, we start our way back by hiking from Rara to Pina. It is 6 hours of the hike which will be on a relatively straight trail to reach the district headquarters at Gamgadhi. From there we climb downhill to Pina village.
From Pina, we hike for about 6 hours to reach Bumra. The next day from Bumra it is about 5-6 hours of hike to Jumla.
From Jumla we take a flight back to Nepalgunj and then to Kathmandu.
Trek difficulty
Rara lake trek is an easy trek and can be done by people with moderate physical fitness. You will be hiking for 4-6 hours a day with a light bag pack. However, some prior practices will be highly beneficial on the journey.
Travel Insurance Policy
This trip comes with high-altitude trekking risks such as potential altitude sickness. Hence, travel insurance is compulsory.
All trekkers must provide a copy of their comprehensive travel insurance policy to Friendship World Trek. The policy must cover medical and emergency repartition above 3000 metres- including heli rescue and evacuation expenses.
