Start in Tia at 3.500 m. Before you can do some sightseeing of Tingmosgang Nunnery, Gompa, Lotsava Lamdon School as well as Tia Nunnery, Tia Gompa and Khatsa Gompa. So it is advisable to arrive already a day earlier (or, if you continue from Tingmosgang plan a whole day for the 2 hours walk Tingmosgang-Tia to do all the sightseeing and enjoy the village life). One follows the village to the northwest and continues to ascend on a 4.070 m high pass. Going down one can glimpse the green fields and trees of Skindiyang, a friendly village connected with Khaltse by road. It is located on 3.530 m.
Enjoy the village life and start then for the climb on Sedchan-la, a 4.095 m high pass. First go to the north and then take a turn to a valley climbing up to the west. Going down one might meet some grazing animals from Skindiyang. Yarma Dok is a shepherds place with some greenery. Camp in the upper part, where there is also some fresh water. On 3.580 m is a small patch of greenery called Smolchang. It is surrounded by nice rocks for bouldering. Otherwise just relax and enjoy being in the mountains.
Again one has first to climb a pass, which is the Samun-la at 3.845 m. After that it goes down, sometimes through quite a narrow gorge and sometimes quite steep, so one has to be careful and watch one’s steps. At 3.380 m the houses of Upper Dhomkar appear and a car can drive up to there. But one can also decide to continue a little through the village and meet the car where the road crosses the valley. The main road is at 2.970 m. Around the corner is the Rock Art of Dhomkar with very old petroglyphs.
